Thierry Mugler

Former ballet dancer at the Opéra du Rhin, Thierry Mugler launched his brand in 1974, strongly influenced by the culture of retro Hollywood mixed with futurism. Mugler became a prominent name in the 1980s, characterized by his elegant and hyper-feminized creations. Mugler’s silhouettes are very structured, the shoulder accentuated and the hip round, designed for women who want to stand out. 

His fashion shows were a performance: he created parade shows with staging and music, and in 1984 opened for the first time ever a fashion show to the public.

Mugler’s ready-to-wear line was shut down in 2003.
