Collection: 1960s and before

The 1960s are marked by strong social mutations: the emancipation of women on one side, looking for more comfort and ease in their clothes, and young people on the other, baby boomers, who want to break free from their parents’ values and clothes and live the swinging 60s life. The 1960s are the decade of the “Youthquake” as Diana Vreeland called them.

Ready-to-wear keeps developing, with Pierre Cardin, and Saint-Lauren with Saint Laurent Rive Gauche, being the first designers to create RTW collections along with Haute Couture.
After 1965, Courreges and feminist Marie Quant make history by introducing the mini skirt.
New stylists become more and more popular, such as Daniel Hechter, Cacharel, Sonia Rykiel, Emmanuelle Khanh, Christiane Bailly.
